In this way, we provide the conditions for the prompt start of a boiler (to achieve the required parameters of water and steam in a short time) and the basis for a later proper boiler operation, ie eliminate potential causes of corrosion.

Company NOVOMATIK Hem has developed and implemented the following technologies for the treatment of new parts of the piping system:

1. Treatment of pipes and pipe assemblies prior to installation into a boiler. The treatment is done "on earth" on the new pipes , either individual tubes or tube assemblies in varying degrees of enlargement. The treatment includes degreasing processes, mechanical or chemical cleaning of the interior surfaces of pipes and pipe assemblies and passivation by a soluble corrosion inhibitor.

The advantages of this treatment are:

  • It is performed in the course of preparing pipes and assemblies for installation ,so there is no loss of time for subsequent chemical treatment.
  • Can be treated surfaces that after installation could not be separated into a separate entity and chemically treated.
  • It is not necessary to remove the water-soluble inhibitor but it will be washed with water flushes and empting of a boiler (for example, during the hydro test)
  • If the pipes or pipe assemblies are not inbuilt immediately into a boiler, the inhibitor provides corrosion protection for a longer period (in TENT filled the warranty for pipes of the EKO package of two years standing under shed)

The disadvantages of this treatment are:

  • Welded joints on the on the boiler are not treated.

The treatment carried out on several occasions in 2007, 2008 and 2009 year-on-Trent in repairs on the A and B power station in the course of the works for the overhaul of Unit A3, about 800 tons of pipes.

2. Treatment of parts of the piping system that was replaced after installing to a boiler. Chemical treatment of the boiler parts is carried out if it is possible to isolate them in a separate circulation circuit,or in other words, if it is possible not to treat the entire boiler (eg EKO paketri, superheaters or similar). The treatment is done with setting provisorium for circulation and performing of chemical treatment in accordance with the international guidelines VGB R513.

The advantages of this treatment are:

  • It is performed a complete treatment which includes all new surfaces and welded joints.
  • After treatment, the boiler continues to work immediately.

The disadvantages of this treatment:

  • Sometimes it is not possible to separate surface that is replaced in a boiler in a separate circulation circuit.
  • Needed construction of a temporary provisorium.

Chemical treatment of parts of the pipe system on the boiler at TENT B ,replacing the vaporizer part for Polish companies RAFAKO and ENERGOTECHNIKA-ENERGORZRUCH.

3. Treatment of the entire boiler. It is carried out the standard chemical process on the whole boiler in accordance with VGB R513. Both surfaces that are not replaced and new surfaces are treated.

The advantages of this treatment are:

  • The treatment includes the entire boiler. From the surfaces that are not replaced will be removed the existing deposit and it is got a boiler that is completely clean and passivated and ready for operation at maximum load

The disadvantages of this treatment

  • High price.

Chemical treatment of parts of the pipe system on the boiler and the entire boiler were carried out on boilers in MB Kolubara WU Heating Plant Vreoci and TENT B replacement of the vaporizer part for the Polish companies RAFAKO and ENERGOTECHNIKA-ENERGORZRUCH.

If there are any specific tasks for the treatment of parts of boilers, whole new boilers or removing the deposit generated in boilers during operation , for each project will be develop special technology.
