The photograph shows the inside of the K2 boiler drum at RB Kolubara – Vreoci Heating Plant after the completion of chemical cleaning and passivation. Novomatik Hem carried out the treatment following the replacement of the boiler roof tubes, with the aim of passivating them and removing deposits formed during boiler operation from the remaining surfaces.
Compared with the treatment of the K1 boiler carried out last year, significantly better results were achieved: the iron concentration in the solution was only 2.2 g/L, the mass loss of the base material was 8.4 g/m², and the cleaned surfaces were excellently passivated.
The boiler was operated properly, with good water preparation and Helamin 90H TURB treatment. I would like to highlight this as an example demonstrating that, when the chemical cleaning of a boiler with a steam capacity of 100 t/h is approached in a planned manner, the work can be completed quickly and to a high standard, with excellent results and without posing any risk to the equipment.
